In addition to the beauty of the lake & the opportunities it offers,Bhimtal has temples with ancient history and beliefs. Bhimeshwar Mahadev, a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, is situated on the eastern side of the lake. The temple of Bhimeshwar Mahadev has a mythological story associated to it. According to the Mahabharata, “Pandavas” set a Jyotirlinga and worshipped which ultimately was named as Bhimeshwar.The temple of Bhimeshwar is a sacred place and worth visiting for Hindu people.Besides Hindu importance the Bhimeshwar temple architecture is worth seeing once.
“Kachula Devi temple” is another temple situated besides the Bhimtal Lake & which is dedicated to Goddess Kachula. Locals believe that the lake water just below the temple is a remedy for all skin problems.Ma Kachula Devi provides the lake water with healing power of all skin problems.
